The Conference of the Birds is the fifth book in the Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs. It was released on January 14th, 2020. Attar’s most renowned work, The Conference of the Birds, is about the difficult journey to spiritual enlightenment and the excuses that people make to avoid taking it. The Conference of the Birds (Manteq at-Tair) is the best-known work of Farid ud-Din Attar, a Persian poet who was born at some time during the twelfth century in Neishapour (where Omar Khayyam had also been born), in north-east Iran, and died in the same city early in the thirteenth century. The Conference of the Birds begins with the birds of the world gathering at a summit in order to seek a king. They turn to the wise hoopoe for guidance, who tells them that they should acknowledge the Great Simorgh as their king, but that the journey to his court is long and perilous, and filled with trials and tests.

Through the themes, the work in the Nests will inquire into ecology, science, politics, myths, and human relations with birds belonging to each Nest location.
